Warsaw prosecutor charges a 49-year-old with double homicide and killing three pets after parents found dead.
Arrest and Intervention
On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, shortly before 9:00, police received a report of two bodies found on the ground floor of a building at Pszczyńska Street. The report came from an unrelated person. Police confirmed the deaths of a man and woman, both killed by sharp instrument wounds. A 49-year-old barricaded himself in a room within the same building. Police negotiators and support units, including counter-terrorists, were deployed.
When the man failed to respond to commands and did not exit the room, authorities decided on a forced entry. The counter-terrorist operation concluded before 12:00, resulting in the man being subdued and arrested.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The following day, Thursday, 29 January, after completing investigative actions, the prosecutor formally charged the 49-year-old. Warsaw-Praga Regional Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Karolina Staros confirmed the victims were the man’s parents. He faces two murder charges and a charge for killing three domestic animals.
The suspect denied the accusations and refused to provide explanations. An arrest warrant application is expected to be filed and submitted later the same day.
