Dramatic Elevator Incident in Kraków: Woman Trapped Inside

An 83-year-old woman was trapped when an elevator broke down in a Kraków building on January 17th.

Elevator Accident on Armii Krajowa Street

A dangerous elevator accident occurred on Saturday, January 17th in a building on Armii Krajowa Street in Kraków’s Bronowice district. The elevator cable snapped while the car was moving to the fifth floor. An 83-year-old woman was inside when the elevator stopped at the second floor.

Rescue Operation Details

According to Hubert Ciepły from the Małopolska Fire Department, firefighters disconnected the power supply and used a technical key to enter the elevator to evacuate the woman. She was handed over to paramedics and taken to the hospital for further examinations. A technician overseeing the elevator’s operation and police also arrived at the scene.

Police Investigation

Anna Wolak Gromala from the Kraków City Police Department stated that police technicians conducted an inspection at the scene, and the Technical Supervision Office was notified. The elevator has been taken out of service. The 83-year-old woman suffered a leg injury.

Police Actions Regarding Winter Weather

Before the weekend, the Małopolska police informed about actions related to cold weather. Due to low temperatures, Kraków police conducted operations in places where homeless people might stay. Officers checked vacant buildings and other shelters for individuals without proper housing.
