Polish driver fined 3,000 zł and lost 40 license points after driving against traffic on S1 expressway.
The Dangerous Maneuver
On December 15, 2025, around 9:30 AM, a driver committed serious traffic offenses on the S1 expressway toward Zwardonia. The driver turned around dangerously in the middle of the road and drove against traffic, ignoring oncoming vehicles including trucks.
His journey lasted only a few hundred meters. After passing a closed-off area, he entered traffic in the opposite direction again, almost causing a collision with another car and a truck.
Court Verdict
“Fortunately, due to this extremely irresponsible behavior, no traffic accident occurred,” commented the Silesian police. Over 40 points were deducted from the driver’s license. By court order, a combined fine of 3,000 Polish zlotys was also imposed on the driver.
For prevention purposes, police published the GDDKiA monitoring recording.
Police Warning
Officers are appealing for cautious and considerate driving. They remind that expressways and motorways have the highest permitted speeds, so any incorrect maneuvers can lead to tragic consequences.
“Turning around, reversing, or driving against traffic on such roads is extremely dangerous and constitutes a serious violation of traffic regulations,” states the police.
“In case of a mistake, such as missing an exit, drivers should continue to the next one and only there safely turn around or change direction. There must be no stopping on the traffic lane, closed-off area, or attempts to turn around and drive against traffic without a clear reason,” police emphasize.
