A 64-year-old man collapsed while driving in Otwock, causing a collision; he was hospitalized in critical condition after resuscitation.

Collision Details

On Thursday, March 5, around 9:45 AM in Otwock, at the intersection of Żeromskiego, Samorządowej, and Borowa streets, two passenger cars—a Toyota and a Mazda—collided. The 64-year-old man driving the Toyota collapsed behind the wheel, experiencing sudden cardiac arrest; after resuscitation, he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Preliminary findings indicate that the 64-year-old was driving the Toyota from the direction of Samorządowa Street, crossed Żeromskiego Street, and collided with the Mazda approaching from the opposite direction while entering Borowa Street. After the collision, the Toyota struck a fence on one of the properties on Borowa Street.

Emergency Response

Firefighters, police, and a medical rescue team were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Toyota experienced sudden cardiac arrest. Witnesses provided first aid, followed by firefighters and paramedics. After nearly an hour of resuscitation, the man’s vital functions were restored. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigation

Preliminary findings suggest the primary cause of the traffic incident may have been the driver’s collapse. Neither the Mazda’s driver nor passenger was injured. Police officers conducted further procedures at the scene, with technicians securing traces, taking measurements, and documenting the incident with photographs.
