At about 11 a.m. on Poland’s National Road 48 in Witaszyn, Białobrzeskie County, a 54‑year‑old Mazda driver lost control, veered onto a ditch, struck a tree, and overturned, dying immediately.
Preliminary Accident Analysis
In the run‑off, the vehicle plunged onto a roadside ditch at an undefined bend. The impact was strong enough to lock the driver inside the wreck.
Rescue Efforts and Fatal Outcome
Firefighters used hydraulic tools to reach the trapped driver, extricated him from the damaged car, and handed him to medical responders. Despite CPR, the driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
Road Closure and Detours
The entire stretch of National Road 48 was blocked for several hours. Traffic was rerouted via local roads through Witaszyn and Korzechów, with authorities urging extra caution.
Police and Prosecutor Lead Investigation
Police, supervised by a prosecutor, carried out procedural actions and inspected the site. Mazowiecka Police stated the accident occurred around 10:35 a.m., that the driver lost control during a lane change, hit a tree, and died at the scene. The investigation into the circumstances and causes remains ongoing.
