A 37-year-old man with three court-ordered driving bans crashed his car into a ditch under the influence of amphetamines.
Incident Details
A 37-year-old man drove his Volkswagen into a ditch on provincial road No. 333 between Polkowice and Lubin. The man remained seated in his locked vehicle and refused to comply with officers’ commands. He put up passive resistance and acted aggressively, forcing police to break a car window to extract him.
Medical rescuers and firefighters responded to the scene. Police determined the man was under the influence of both amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Legal Violations
The driver had three court-ordered driving bans, including two lifetime bans, and his license had been revoked. He had previously served prison time for similar offenses.
The man has been charged with driving despite the bans and under the influence of drugs. Due to acting as a recidivist, he faces up to over seven years in prison.
Police Response
“Police secured footage from city surveillance cameras showing the extremely dangerous driving of the 37-year-old,” stated Com. Przemysław Ratajczyk of the Lower Silesian police. “We appeal for absolute sobriety behind the wheel. Lack of judgment and breaking the law can end in tragedy on the road.”
