According to Al Jazeera, the attack was aimed at a US logistical support base near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. Another drone was reportedly shot down near the airport in Erbil, Kurdistan.

Al Jazeera, citing an Iraqi security source, reported that the drone crashed in the Al-Sayyidah area, southwest of the capital, Baghdad.

Repeated Attacks on US Facilities

This is the latest in a series of attacks targeting US diplomatic facilities in Iraq. On Tuesday, March 17th, the US embassy in Baghdad was attacked with drones and rockets.

Hezbollah and Iranian Strikes

On Saturday, March 21st, over 50 people were injured after Hezbollah shelled northern areas of Israel, and Iran shelled southern areas.

One of the targeted cities contains the Shimon Peres Nuclear Research Center, commonly known as the Dimona Reactor, which is considered part of Israel’s nuclear weapons program. Israel does not officially confirm or deny possessing such weapons.

Potential Flashpoint in the Persian Gulf

A small coral island, Khark, in the northern part of the Persian Gulf, could become a major battleground in a potential war with Iran, as it is the origin point for tankers carrying Iranian oil, a key source of funding for the Iranian government.
