A drone hit the Russia-Europe “Friendship” oil pipeline in Tatarstan, sparking a large fire at a critical pumping station.
Russia Battles Fire at Critical Pipeline Node
Russians are fighting a fire at the Kalejkino pumping station in Tatarstan, which is part of the “Friendship” pipeline. Local authorities claim the fire started after drone debris hit station buildings. Recordings published online by independent sources show large flames. “There are no casualties. The consequences are currently being eliminated. The situation is under control,” the authorities reported.
Strategic Blow to Russian Energy Infrastructure
“Ukrainian Truth” emphasizes that the Kalejkino pumping station is one of the most important logistical nodes in the Russian energy sector. It’s where crude oil from Western Siberia and the Volga region is mixed before export. The station provides critical pressure and uninterrupted oil flow directly to the “Friendship” pipeline and to refineries in Tatarstan. The destruction of this facility would be a direct blow to Russia’s military economy, as oil and gas revenues account for about one-third of the Russian budget, which finances the war against Ukraine.
Casualties Reported in Ukrainian Regions
Russian attacks have caused casualties in Ukraine. In the Zaporizhzhia region, one person was killed and one injured after an attack on industrial infrastructure. In a separate drone attack on the Odesa region, two people were killed and three injured. The unmanned vehicles struck industrial, energy and civilian infrastructure, with rescue operations currently underway.
