Drunk 26-Year-Old with Two Lifetime Driving Bans Sentenced to Prison

A 26-year-old man with two lifetime driving bans and no license drove under influence and caused an accident, resulting in a one-year prison sentence.

Incident Details

On Tuesday morning (February 10), police from the Zwoleń traffic department were called to an accident in Zamość Stary (Przyłęk commune). At the scene, officers found a 26-year-old Radom district resident driving an Audi that had collided with the rear of a Honda driven by a 32-year-old man.

Legal Violations

During the investigation, it was determined that the 26-year-old was intoxicated with over two permille of alcohol in his system. Further verification revealed he had no driving license and was subject to two active lifetime bans on driving motor vehicles. The man was detained and his vehicle secured.

Court Decision

The following day (February 11), a hearing was held at the Zwołń District Court. The 26-year-old was sentenced to one year in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to pay 10,000 PLN to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitential Assistance, and his vehicle was confiscated. The verdict is not final.

Additional Consequences

The driver will also face consequences for driving without a license and causing a traffic safety hazard while under the influence of alcohol.
