Drunk Cyclist Injured After Colliding With Car Outside Police Headquarters

On Saturday, May 23, a 59-year-old cyclist under the influence of alcohol was hospitalized after failing to yield and colliding with an Audi in Białobrzegi, right outside the local police station.

Collision Outside Police Headquarters

On Saturday, May 23, shortly after 6:00 p.m., a traffic accident involving a female cyclist and an Audi passenger car occurred at the intersection of Sądowa and Żeromski streets in Białobrzegi.

Preliminary findings indicate that the 59-year-old local resident on the bicycle failed to yield, entering the path of a properly driving Audi operated by a 44-year-old woman. The cyclist sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Police Intervention and Alcohol Test

The accident occurred in the immediate vicinity of the District Police Headquarters in Białobrzegi. Officers stationed at the building responded immediately, providing first aid to the victim and securing the scene until medical services arrived.

Further investigation revealed that the 59-year-old woman was intoxicated, with a breathalyzer test showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.8 per mille.

Legal Requirements for Road Users

Police emphasize that cyclists are full participants in traffic and must adhere to the same regulations as drivers. Riding under the influence severely impairs concentration and reaction times, leading to dangerous outcomes.

Authorities urge road users to exercise caution at intersections and when entering traffic, noting that all traffic signs apply to every participant. Białobrzegi police are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident.
