The Incident

A 33‑year‑old driver from Lidzbar County lost control of his vehicle on the S7 expressway near Wiśniewo. He struck electric cable barriers that separate traffic lanes, causing the car to become jammed between them.

Alcohol Findings

Police officers who responded to the scene smelled alcohol on the driver. An on‑scene breathalyzer verified that he was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol concentration of nearly 1.5 promille.

Police Response

The vehicle was removed from the road at the owner’s expense, while the driver was detained and transported to the local police station. Police electronically seized his driver’s licence and the vehicle’s registration documents.

Legal Consequences

Driving under the influence is a crime that can carry fines, license suspension, or up to three years of imprisonment. A court will determine the final penalty, and the driver may also be required to contribute to victim support and post‑prison assistance funds.
