Drunk Driver Causes Serious Crash, One in Medically Induced Coma

Investigation Launched into Legionowo Crash

The Legionowo District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a serious accident that occurred on March 10, 2026, on National Road 61 in Michałowo-Reginowie, Legionowo County.

The investigation reveals that Dawid S., driving a Renault Scenic from Legionowo towards Zegrze, veered into the opposite lane for reasons yet unknown, colliding head-on with a Citroen Xsarą Picasso.

Driver Attempted to Flee the Scene

Following the crash, Dawid S. allegedly attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by witnesses. Three individuals were injured in the collision and transported to the hospital, where they remain hospitalized.

One of the victims is currently in a medically induced coma, according to Prosecutor Karolina Staros, Press Spokesperson for the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office.

Driver Found to be Intoxicated and Previously Convicted

Investigators determined that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. A breathalyzer test showed a reading of 0.64 mg/l of alcohol in his breath.

Furthermore, Dawid S. had a prior conviction for an offense against traffic safety under Art. 178a § 1 of the Penal Code.

Charges Filed and Temporary Arrest Ordered

The prosecutor’s office stated that tests confirmed the suspect was intoxicated during the accident. He has been charged with driving under the influence as a repeat offender and causing a traffic accident.

Dawid S. was questioned as a suspect but denied the charges and invoked his right to remain silent. At the prosecutor’s request, the Legionowo District Court ordered his temporary arrest for three months.

Prosecutor Karolina Staros stated that due to his prior conviction and driving under the influence, the suspect faces a potential prison sentence.
