Radom police arrested a drunk driver who fled through city streets after refusing to stop for a traffic check.
Initial Report
On Saturday (14.02), the duty officer of Radom Municipal Police received a report about a presumably drunk driver. According to a witness, he was following a car whose driving style suggested the driver might be intoxicated.
Traffic police officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate the reported vehicle.
Police Chase
When officers attempted to stop the indicated vehicle, the driver ignored their commands and fled. Police immediately initiated a pursuit using light and sound signals.
The chase ended on Tytoniowa Street where the driver stopped his car in the middle of the road and attempted to escape on foot, but was apprehended by Radom officers.
Driver Identification
Police identified the driver as a 33-year-old resident of the Lipski district. A breathalyzer test revealed nearly 1.5 permille of alcohol in his system.
Legal Consequences
The man was taken into police custody and, after sobering up, faced charges for driving under the influence and failing to stop for police control.
For these offenses, he could face up to 5 years in prison.
