Thursday afternoon in Pułtusk, a drunk 28-year-old driver nearly collided with a police vehicle before rolling his BMW into a roadside ditch.
Near Miss with Police Vehicle
Thursday after 3 PM on a street in Pułtusk, a 28-year-old BMW driver lost control of his vehicle, swerving onto the oncoming lane where a patrol car was traveling. To avoid a head-on collision, police officers had to abruptly drive onto the sidewalk.
The BMW driver then steered back onto his lane, entered a roadside ditch, hit a culvert, and rolled, coming to rest in the ditch.
Driver Condition and Medical Response
The driver created a real and direct hazard to other road users. Police immediately notified the duty officer at the Pułtusk County Police Headquarters and began providing assistance to the injured man.
The man was conscious, suffered a head injury, and complained of severe back pain. A strong smell of alcohol was noticeable from the driver, and his speech was slurred. An ambulance crew arrived and transported the 28-year-old Pułtusk resident to the hospital.
Legal Consequences
In the hospital, blood was taken from the man for toxicological tests – the results will determine the exact consequences he will face. The BMW was secured and towed to a police parking lot, and officers electronically suspended the driver’s license due to reasonable suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The 28-year-old will face court for his dangerous behavior on the road.
