A 23-year-old man from Baboszewo, Poland, faces charges after stealing a friend’s car while intoxicated and crashing it on May 2nd.
Initial Incident and Police Response
Police responded to a report of a car colliding with a fence in Rybitwy, near Płońsk, shortly before midnight on May 2nd. The driver had fled the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found the property owner and his wife, who had witnessed the crash and apprehended a man with visible injuries walking nearby.
Arrest and Intoxication
The apprehended individual, a 23-year-old resident of Baboszewo, exhibited aggressive behavior and smelled of alcohol. He admitted to drinking alcohol and driving the vehicle, confirming he lacked a driver’s license.
A breathalyzer test revealed an alcohol concentration exceeding 1.5 promille. A blood sample was taken for further analysis.
Vehicle Theft Confirmed
Further investigation revealed the man had stolen the Ford from a friend while the owner was sleeping, taking the keys and driving away.
Charges Filed
The 23-year-old now faces charges of vehicle theft, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and driving under the influence, carrying a potential 3-year sentence. He will also be prosecuted for driving without a license, potentially resulting in a fine, restriction of freedom, and a driving ban.
