A Polish man detained on 4 December 2025 for driving intoxicated despite a court‑issued ban also attempted to hand 5,000 zl to police officers, prosecutors say.
Investigation Initiated
The Wyszków District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Paweł Ż. for alleged drunk driving, breach of a court‑ordered ban, and an attempted bribery of police officers.
Incident Date and Charges
The incident occurred on 4 December 2025. Mr Ż faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and of attempting to provide a financial benefit to officers.
Road‑Check and Breath Test Results
At 18:55 in Ojcowizna, a police officer stopped a Renault and conducted a breath test. Initial reading was 1.12 mg/L, followed by 1.09, 0.91 and 0.85 mg/L, indicating significant intoxication.
Existing Court‑Ordered Driving Ban
A ban issued by the Wołomin District Court on 3 January 2025 prohibits Mr Ż from operating any motor vehicle. He violated this order by driving on public roads.
Attempted Bribe of Police Officers
While detained, Mr Ż offered 5,000 zl to officers in hopes of aborting the actions taken against him. The money was rejected and the conduct was treated as an attempt to benefit public officials.
Arrest and Preventive Control
He was taken to police detention, then to the prosecutor’s office for a charge reading and interrogation. Prosecutor imposed police monitoring; he must report weekly to the Wołomin County Police HQ.
Potential Sentencing and Ongoing Proceedings
Prosecutors warn of up to 10 years imprisonment if convicted. The case remains under the supervision of the Wyszków District Prosecutor’s Office.
