Drunk Driver with Lifetime Ban Arrested Again, Receives Quick Verdict

Traffic police in Helenów arrest a 53-year-old Radom man for drunk driving despite lifetime ban, resulting in immediate court verdict.

On Thursday (March 5), traffic police officers from the Road Traffic Department in Helenów (Policzna Commune) stopped for a road check a 53-year-old man driving an Opel car who had exceeded the permissible speed. During the official procedures, officers checked the driver’s sobriety. The test showed that the man was under the influence of alcohol with over half a permille of alcohol in his system.

During further checks in police systems, officers established that the driver was subject to a lifetime ban on driving any motor vehicles. Additionally, the 53-year-old, a resident of Radom, does not have a driving license. The man was arrested and placed in a police detention cell.

Legal Consequences

The case was referred to court in accelerated proceedings. The very next day, Friday (March 6), a verdict was issued. The District Court in Zwoleni, for driving under the influence of alcohol while subject to a driving ban, sentenced the man to one year in prison, again imposed a lifetime ban on driving any motor vehicles, and ordered him to pay 10,000 zloty to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance. The verdict is not final.

The driver was also fined for speeding and will face court for driving without the required qualifications.
