Drunk Driver’s Mustang Seized, Now Serves with Mazovian Police

Poland’s first confiscated vehicle-turned-police car, a Ford Mustang GT, was officially presented to the Radom City Police on March 17th.

Origin of the Police Mustang

The story of the police Ford Mustang began on April 19, 2025, in Ślubowo, Ciechanów County. Officers from the Sońsk Police Post, operating in Gołotczyzna, discovered a sports car in a ditch.

The driver was identified as a 39-year-old resident of Warsaw. A breathalyzer test revealed an alcohol level exceeding 2 per mille. The man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Vehicle Confiscation and Court Ruling

Due to regulations allowing for vehicle confiscation from drivers with over 1.5 per mille of alcohol in their blood, the car was secured in a guarded parking lot. On September 23, 2025, the Ciechanów Regional Court ruled for the vehicle’s forfeiture.

Current legislation permits the transfer of confiscated vehicles to entities other than the tax office.

Transfer to the Police Force

Following an assessment of the Mustang’s technical condition and current needs, police officers requested its transfer to the Main Police Headquarters. The District Prosecutor in Ciechanów supported this request during the execution of the court order.

On October 17, 2025, the Ciechanów Regional Court decided to transfer the vehicle to the Police. The decision to assign the Mustang to the Mazovian Police was made on December 8, 2025.

Technical Specifications

The police Ford Mustang GT is a 2018 model equipped with a 5.0 V8 engine producing 450 HP (331 kW) and a manual transmission.

According to the manufacturer, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds, with a maximum speed of 249 km/h.

Deployment and Presentation

By order of the Voivodeship Police Commander in Radom, Inspector Waldemar Wołowiec, the sports car was assigned to the Traffic Department of the Radom City Police, where it will be used to enhance road safety.

The official presentation of the police Ford Mustang took place on March 17th at the Radom Automobile Club, allowing attendees to view the vehicle, learn its specifications, and understand its future role.

Drunk Driving Statistics

Last year, Mazovian police apprehended 3547 drivers under the influence of alcohol. Since the introduction of mandatory vehicle confiscation laws (from March 2024), police in the Radom Voivodeship have temporarily seized 1275 vehicles as of the end of last year.
