Drunk Judge Caused Collision; Revealed He Had Two Promille Alcohol

In Tychy, Poland, a 63-year-old judge with two promile alcohol crashed his SUV, damaging a road sign.

The incident occurred in Tychy (Silesian Voivodeship). According to RMF FM reports, a 63-year-old SUV driver veered off the road and hit a fence. As a result, a road sign was damaged. The man did not suffer serious injuries. Police were called to the scene.

It turned out the driver was a judge at the Katowice Court of Appeal. Tests showed he had two promile of alcohol in his system. Officers informed his superior.

Cases Involving Judges

However, this is not the first such incident in recent times. As reported by Gazeta Wyborcza, under the influence of alcohol were driving, among others, Judge Dariusz K. from the Regional Court in Luban and Judge Teresa Z.-T. from the District Court in Zamosc.

In this connection, court spokespersons issued a joint statement addressing this type of incident.

Court Spokespersons Make It Clear

The spokespersons condemned the commission of offenses and crimes by judges. “Cases where judges drive under the influence of alcohol are unacceptable, regardless of where and how long we perform this honorable service to society,” the statement read.

They also informed that in such situations, competent authorities should promptly determine criminal and disciplinary liability for judges whose behavior tarnishes the dignity of the office.
