Drunk Man Shoots Teenager with Air Rifle in Gdańsk

A 48-year-old Gdańsk resident was arrested after firing an air rifle at a group of teenagers near Menonitów Street last Sunday, leaving a 14-year-old boy injured with a head wound.

The Incident in Gdańsk-Orunia

On Sunday, June 7, around 9:30 p.m., police in Gdańsk-Orunia were alerted to an incident near Menonitów Street. A group of teenagers had been gathered in a residential gazebo.

According to police reports, a man leaned out of a top-floor apartment window and aggressively demanded the group leave, claiming they were making too much noise. Shortly after, a shot was fired, striking a 14-year-old boy in the head.

Arrest and Blood Alcohol Level

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Officers detained the 48-year-old suspect at the scene. Breathalyzer tests revealed he was heavily intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level of nearly 3.5 per mille.

The suspect admitted to firing the weapon with the intention of frightening the teenagers. Following his sobering period, he was charged with causing bodily harm lasting no longer than seven days, a crime carrying a potential sentence of up to two years in prison.

Legal Consequences

On Tuesday, June 9, the Gdańsk-Śródmieście District Prosecutor’s Office ordered that the man be placed under police supervision as the legal proceedings continue.
