Drunk Mayor Fled Accident Scene; He’s the Father of Actor

A 63‑year‑old mayor of Przechlewo fled the scene after causing a collision on Dworcowa Street when drunk, police later found him in a private home hours later.

Collision on the Turn

The incident occurred on Friday, 28 November before 5 PM on Dworcowa Street in Przechlewo. According to initial police findings, a Volkswagen driver veered into the opposite lane and struck a bus.

After the collision he fled the scene. Four hours later he was located and arrested by police a few streets away in a private apartment, and breath‑testing revealed he was intoxicated at 1.5‰; blood tests were also taken. Firefighters from OSP Przechlewo responded and posted photos of the operation.

Mayor Responsible

Local media identified the driver as 63‑year‑old Andrzej Żmuda Trzebiatowski, the mayor of Przechlewo and father of actress Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska. This is not the first time a local official has been arrested for driving under the influence. In 2014 he struck another vehicle, fled, and tried to dismiss the police by claiming to be the mayor; his blood alcohol level was 1.8‰, leading to a three‑year driving ban and a fine. A year later he was caught at work after consuming alcohol, with tests showing 0.26‰ and then 0.20‰.

Mayor Apologizes

Following the Friday incident, the mayor pleaded guilty and faced a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Police seized his car and revoked his driver’s licence. When asked by a Weekend FM radio reporter, he said he could not recall fleeing the scene and apologized: “It shouldn’t happen; I am very sorry.” He was also questioned about his future in office, stating, “I cannot say whether I will have a successor. I work honestly for the municipality and its residents, realizing their dreams.”
