Warsaw police officer with 1.58 permille alcohol arrested while driving private vehicle off-duty on January 15, 2026.
Incident Details
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, in the evening, police arrested a Ford driver in central Warsaw who had 1.58 permille of alcohol in his breath. The arrested person is an official of the Police Headquarters.
Patrol officers noticed the driver’s behavior and stopped the vehicle for inspection. After the breathalyzer test, police confirmed the result: “The test showed 1.58 permille of alcohol in the exhaled air.”
Administrative Actions
The Police Headquarters (KGP) informed about the implementation of disciplinary and administrative procedures against the officer, who is from the Police Headquarters International Cooperation Bureau.
After the incident, the Police Internal Affairs Bureau and the prosecutor’s office were notified. The officer was suspended from duty, and disciplinary proceedings were initiated.
Legal Consequences
KGP is also conducting administrative proceedings for dismissal from police service on the basis of Article 41, paragraph 2, point 5 of the Police Act.
Driving under the influence is a crime under Article 178a § 1 of the Penal Code, punishable by imprisonment of up to 3 years. The legal definition of “state of intoxication” includes blood alcohol levels above 0.5 permille or above 0.25 mg of alcohol per 1 dm³ of exhaled air.
