In Łosice, Poland, a 47-year-old man driving a tractor with nearly 3 promille of alcohol in his system attempted to run over a police officer during an intervention.
Police Intervention Following Report of Unlicensed Driver
Police in Łosice responded to a report on Friday, March 27th, around 5:40 PM, regarding a man operating a tractor without the necessary permits.
Officers spotted the Ursus tractor on a public road in the Olszanka municipality, and the driver immediately veered off the road and into nearby fields upon seeing the patrol car.
Attempted Assault and Arrest
Despite the use of lights and sirens, the tractor driver continued across the field, refusing to stop. An officer exited the vehicle and ran into the field to halt the tractor.
When the 47-year-old saw the officer signaling him to stop, he accelerated and attempted to run him over. The officer managed to dodge the tractor, jumped onto the back of the vehicle, and subdued the driver.
The driver continued to resist arrest, striking the officer in the head and attempting to break free, but was ultimately restrained and detained.
Charges and Vehicle Violations
A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of nearly 3 promille. The driver was found to be unlicensed and the tractor lacked valid technical inspections.
The man now faces charges of assault against a public official, drunk driving, operating a vehicle without a license, and lacking required vehicle inspections.
