Drunk, Unlicensed 17-Year-Old Crashes Stolen Car into Utility Pole

In Stanisławów, Poland, on April 3rd, a 17-year-old driver crashed a car into a pole after consuming alcohol and driving without a license.

Incident Details

A serious traffic incident occurred on Friday, April 3rd, after 1:00 AM in Stanisławów, Serock municipality (Legionowo county). The driver of a Honda left the county road and collided forcefully with a concrete utility pole.

The impact broke the pole, which remained suspended by wires over the roadway.

Emergency Response

Three fire departments – Legionowo JRG, OSP Wola Kiełpińska, and OSP Stanisławowo – were dispatched to the scene, along with police and an energy utility crew. The notification was received at 1:15 AM.

Driver Condition and Vehicle Status

Upon arrival, emergency services found the driver had exited the damaged vehicle on his own and sustained no injuries requiring hospitalization. Firefighters secured the scene and the damaged pole until the energy company arrived.

Legal Consequences

Police determined the driver was a 17-year-old without the required driving license. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 1.19 per mille. He was detained, and further investigation will be conducted by the Serock police station after he has sobered up.

New Regulations and the Case

The case is noteworthy as new regulations came into effect on March 3, 2026, allowing 17-year-olds to obtain a category B driver’s license under specific conditions. However, these conditions require a supervising driver until the age of 18, and police confirmed the driver did not meet these requirements.

Road Closure and Cleanup

The road in the collision area was blocked during the operation, and the wrecked vehicle was removed by a tow truck. The operation concluded at 4:40 AM.
