A drunk, unlicensed driver crashed a BMW M4 in Warsaw, hitting two vehicles and blocking tram traffic on Wola.
Collision Details
A collision involving three vehicles occurred on Kasprzaka Street before the intersection with Płocka Street on Wola. The driver of a BMW M4 failed to adjust speed and struck a Fiat van. The force of impact was significant, causing the Fiat to subsequently hit a Volkswagen passenger car.
After the collision, the BMW drove into a green area and partially onto tram tracks, blocking rail traffic. The Volkswagen veered into road signs and also stopped on a green lane.
Driver’s Condition
At the scene, it was quickly determined that the 47-year-old BMW driver was intoxicated. A breathalyzer test showed 2.5‰ alcohol content. Additionally, the man did not have a valid driver’s license and was detained.
Emergency Response
No hospitalization was required for the collision participants. Due to the incident, tram traffic was suspended. Difficulties also affected drivers: two lanes in the direction of the city center and one lane toward Aleja Prymasa Tysiąclecia were blocked.
Two fire brigade teams, two ZRM crews, ZTM and Warsaw Tramways supervision, and several police teams were at the scene.
Traffic Disruptions
Due to a road traffic incident in the area of the “Szpital Wolski” tram stop, there are disruptions to tram lines 10 and 11. Possible delays may occur. The lines have been redirected to alternative routes.
