Duda Advises Nawrocki on Peace Council, Calls It “Achievement of Polish Diplomacy”

Polish President Duda suggests Nawrocki should accept Trump’s Peace Council invitation.

Duda: Rejecting Trump’s Peace Council Invitation Would Not Be Rational

President Andrzej Duda stated that Polish President Karol Nawrocki should consider accepting Donald Trump’s invitation to the Peace Council. Duda argued that if Poland wants to achieve peace in a format where, unlike the UN, no country has veto power, it should be at the table when crucial global issues are decided.

“From this point of view, rejecting, and in advance, Donald Trump’s proposal would not be rational,” Duda said.

Duda: Nobody Minds Sitting at the Same Table with Russia in UN Security Council

Duda acknowledged that Trump’s initiative may raise objections due to the inclusion of Presidents Putin and Lukashenko in the Peace Council. However, he countered by pointing out that nobody seems to mind sitting at the same table with Russia in the UN Security Council.

“If someone has such a principled stance that they say ‘I won’t sit at the table with aggressors’, then on that basis, in principle, one should also boycott the UN Security Council. But nobody is even thinking about that,” Duda said.

Nawrocki Will Participate in Peace Council Meeting in Davos

Head of the President’s International Policy Office Marcin Przydacz announced that on Thursday, January 22, Karol Nawrocki will participate in a meeting on the Peace Council in Davos. He emphasized that “the matter requires further analysis” and that Poland expresses objective interest in the further development of the situation around the Peace Council.

“Full compliance with Polish regulations must be maintained. No signing will take place in a legal and actual sense,” Przydacz added.

Who Will Be Part of the Peace Council?

The Peace Council is to oversee the activities of the temporary “technical Palestinian government” in Gaza, as well as help resolve other conflicts around the world. The US President has stated that he would like the Peace Council to ultimately replace the UN.

Membership in the council will cost a billion dollars, and its regulations provide that final decisions would be made by Donald Trump – approving or vetoing proposals from members. Trump is to be the lifelong leader of the Peace Council.

Multiple Countries Have Accepted Peace Council Invitations

Donald Trump has invited leaders of about 60 countries to the Peace Council. On Wednesday, BBC reported that Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Qatar have already agreed to join. Earlier, leaders of Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Vietnam, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan and Argentina also accepted Trump’s invitation.

Trump claimed that Vladimir Putin had also accepted the invitation, but the Kremlin conveyed that it is only considering joining. On Wednesday, Putin proposed that the Americans take the billion-dollar fee for permanent membership from frozen Russian assets.
