Poland’s Institute of Meteorology and Water Management forecasts a substantial temperature increase leading into Easter, peaking on April 5th.
Current Weather Pattern
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) reports that a ridge of the Azores High currently dominates over Poland as of March 29th, placing the country within a polar maritime air mass.
The exception is the southeastern regions, which are under the influence of a low-pressure system from Southeastern Europe, experiencing warmer temperatures.
Forecast for the Coming Week
On Monday, temperatures are expected to reach around 8 degrees Celsius in western Poland. Central Poland will see highs of 11-12 degrees Celsius, while Podlasie is forecast to reach 13 degrees Celsius.
Warmer temperatures are also anticipated in some coastal areas (10-11 degrees Celsius in the Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships), although the West Pomeranian Voivodeship will be cooler at 6-7 degrees Celsius.
Mid-Week Temperatures
Tuesday will be similar, with potential temperature increases of 1-2 degrees Celsius in the west, but a corresponding decrease in central and eastern Poland.
By Wednesday, temperatures across the country will generally range from 10-12 degrees Celsius, with slightly cooler conditions in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, peaking at 8 degrees Celsius.
Thursday will see temperatures reach 13 degrees Celsius in the Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, West Pomeranian, and Lubusz Voivodeships, while the Podkarpackie Voivodeship may experience a drop to 7 degrees Celsius.
Weekend Warming Trend
Friday will bring a slight cooling trend to Podlasie, Podkarpackie, and Lubelszczyzna, but western Poland could reach 14 degrees Celsius.
This warming will not last, as the IMGW forecasts temperatures of 15-17 degrees Celsius across most of Poland on Saturday, with slightly cooler conditions in the West Pomeranian and Świętokrzyskie Voivodeships (13 degrees Celsius).
Easter Weekend Outlook
The first day of Easter (Sunday, April 5th) is expected to bring the warmest temperatures of the year, with the IMGW predicting highs of 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.
This warm front will be short-lived, as temperatures are forecast to drop to 10-13 degrees Celsius on Monday, though this change is expected to be temporary, with a further increase in temperatures anticipated the following day.
The warmest conditions will be in the west, with temperatures reaching 18-19 degrees Celsius, while the northwest will be cooler at 11-12 degrees Celsius.
