Polish seniors turning 65 in 2026 can access eight supplementary retirement benefits and social support programs.
13th Retirement Pension 2026
The 13th retirement pension is an additional annual monetary benefit that will be paid to a broad group of seniors and social security benefit recipients. Those entitled to specific benefits on March 31 of the payment year are eligible. In 2026, the 13th pension will amount to 1,970.60 PLN gross, or 1,699 PLN net.
14th Retirement Pension Calculation
Unlike the 13th pension, the 14th pension is not universal and depends on the amount of the basic benefit. It follows the “pln for pln” principle, which protects seniors from sudden loss of the supplement after exceeding the income threshold. For example, a retiree receiving 3,400 PLN gross (500 PLN above the limit) would receive the 14th pension reduced by exactly 500 PLN.
Free Medications for Seniors 65+
Seniors can access free medications by meeting three criteria. The current list includes nearly 3,800 preparations previously only partially subsidized. The list contains medications for various conditions, including chronic and seasonal diseases. Free medications include treatments for cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, respiratory illnesses, and pain management.
Care Allowance 2026
The care allowance is another monetary benefit paid to seniors. It is granted only to individuals aged 75 or older or those completely unable to work and live independently. It does not apply to persons residing in care or nursing institutions for more than two weeks per month. In 2026, the benefit amount is 365.91 PLN monthly.
Housing Allowance for Retirees
Seniors meeting specific legal conditions may qualify for a housing allowance if they struggle to cover housing costs. The allowance depends on income, legal title to the property, and floor space. Income limits apply: the average monthly income from the three months before application must not exceed certain thresholds. The allowance is only available for dwellings of specified maximum size.
National Senior Card Benefits
Every senior who has reached age 60 can obtain the National Senior Card, which provides access to numerous discounts and rebates at thousands of locations throughout Poland. Cardholders can enjoy discounts and preferential terms in public transportation, cultural institutions, retail stores, restaurants, and service providers.
Retiree ID in mObywatel Application
Retirees and pension holders have the right to a retiree-pensioner ID available in the mObywatel application. This document allows quick verification of entitlements and access to numerous discounts without carrying a physical card. Through the ID, seniors can receive discounts on transportation, cultural events, and public services.
Energy Flat Rate 2026
The energy flat rate is a special benefit form granted to selected seniors, including combatants, soldiers of alternative military service compulsorily employed in mines or uranium extraction facilities, and widows or widowers of combatants or such soldiers. This provides additional financial support for electricity and gas expenses.
