Warsaw and Kraków police detained eight suspects linked to a vehicle‑theft syndicate, securing seven cars, burglary devices, and more than 50,000 złoty, with charges carrying up to 15 years in prison.
Arrests of Eight Vehicle Crime Suspects
Police from the Capital Police Department’s Vehicle Crime Combat Division arrested eight persons aged 29‑51 in Warsaw and Kraków. They are accused of belonging to an organized group involved in vehicle burglary and the trade of stolen automotive parts.
Among the detained is a Kraków lawyer. He and others have also committed insurance fraud by claiming fictitious vehicle thefts, earning a steady income from the payouts.
Police Operations Across Warsaw and Kraków
The raid was carried out at the request of the National Prosecutor’s Office and involved officers from other Capital Police units, district and county commands, as well as the Nadbużyński Border Guard and the CPKP “BOA”.
Evidence Seized in the Raid
Police secured seven cars that will undergo forensic mechanical examinations, burglary tools, vehicle part‑recycling devices, and two items resembling firearms. More than 50,000 złoty was also seized.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The suspects face charges of leading an organized crime group (up to 15 years), six charges of participation in such a group (up to 8 years), 92 counts of parts resale, 25 counts of vehicle burglary, and two fraud charges.
Three suspects were already serving sentences for other crimes and were transferred to the prosecutor’s office for these charges.
Judicial Response and Detention
On the prosecutor’s request, the court temporarily detained six of the suspects for three months; the remaining two were placed under police supervision.
