On December 21, 2025, a Mercedes EQS slipped from a slope and sank into the Narva River near Pułtusk’s Wyszkowskie Bridge, triggering a rescue operation by the Warsaw 5 water‑rescue group and local fire services.
Vehicle Loss near Wyszkowskie Bridge
The Mercedes EQS slid off a slope and plunged into the Narva River in Pułtusk during the evening of December 20, just before midnight. The incident occurred in the area of the so‑called “Wyszkowskie Bridge” on Highway 618.
Immediate Response and Search
Fire engines and ambulance units were visible at the bridge shortly after the alert. Firefighters employed a boat for reconnaissance, finding the driver had already exited the vehicle and no one was injured.
River Currents Disrupt the Wreck
The Narva’s flow carried the car downstream, reportedly over a kilometer. Night operations located the vehicle, secured it to a shore tree with a rope, and resumed the effort the next morning.
Rescue Operations: 9 :00‑13:30
From 9:00 to 13:30 on December 21, specialists from JRG 1 in Warsaw (the Warsaw 5 group) worked alongside JRG Pułtusk, the Pułtusk water‑rescue group, and the Grabówiec volunteer fire department.
Technical Tactics and Extraction
The team lifted the car using closed-displacement pontoons and drained the water with an electric submersible pump. Because the wreck was in a hard‑to‑reach spot, the vehicle was moved on water for about 500 m before the final extraction was completed safely.
Successful Retrieval and Value Assessment
At the operation’s end, the Mercedes EQS—an electric luxury car—was recovered. Its value was preliminarily estimated at nearly 300,000 PLN. The rescue met all objectives, with no casualties reported.
