Two brothers from Elk, aged 52 and 48, were found dead in Kruklin Lake after a week‑long search that began on October 30.
Missing During Fishing Trip
The 52‑year‑old and 48‑year‑old brothers traveled to Kruklin Lake to fish on October 30. They were last seen that Thursday and failed to return home.
Extensive Search Operation
After the family reported them missing, police, firefighters, rescuers and divers deployed boats equipped with sonar, drones and a tracking dog to investigate the lake and surrounding area.
Bodies Found Under Water
On Sunday, November 2, sonar indicated a likely site. Divers recovered the two bodies from the lake, and later confirmed the identity of the men as the missing brothers.
Police Investigating Circumstances
Investigators from Giżycko County Police carry out the inquiry under a prosecutor’s supervision. At this stage they have not yet identified the cause of the tragedy and offered condolences to the family.
