Bloomberg reports that European leaders are appealing to President Zelensky not to sign an agreement for withdrawing troops from Donbas without security guarantees from the United States. They warn that such pressure could leave Ukraine vulnerable and create a strategic vacuum threatening regional safety.

Britain Says Putin Rejects US Peace Proposals

The United Kingdom assesses that Russian President Vladimir Putin declined U.S. peace offers, deeming them too advantageous for Ukraine. European diplomats acknowledge the difficulty of talks with U.S. and Ukrainian officials and prepare for the possibility of President Trump pulling out of negotiations entirely.

Zelensky to Meet UK, French, German Leaders in London

On Monday, President Zelensky will host Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London to discuss international support for Ukraine. Macron warned that the U.S. might betray Ukraine and Europe over territorial matters, while Merz accused American negotiators of playing games with Ukraine and Europe.

US and NATO Discussions on Peace Deal

An ambassador of the United States to NATO stated that Ukraine and Russia are closer than ever to concluding a peace agreement that would end the war. President Trump noted that his representatives met with Moscow’s Vladimir Putin and described the talks as successful. U.S. National Security Advisor Rustem Umierov suggested that a peace deal could be possible.

Russia Continues Heavy Attacks Against Ukraine

Despite ongoing negotiations, Russia launched further attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas, striking critical infrastructure in locations such as Kremenchuk. The strikes left many civilians without power and heating. In the past week, Russia fired over 3,000 rockets and drones at Ukraine, with 1,600 missile-drones and about 1,200 conventional bombs striking key targets.

Latest Russian Drone Campaign

On December 5, Russia used more than 240 drones and five ballistic missiles, causing damage in seven Ukrainian regions, including fatalities in the Chernihiv oblast. Ukrainian leadership condemned the attacks and called for a strengthening of air defence systems.
