EU Parliament Debates Poland’s Diversion Attacks: “We Are One Step from Our Citizens’ Death”

Koalicja Obywatelskiej’s Dariusz Joński warned that the Russian and Belarusian actions test Europe’s resilience. Mariusz Kamiński of the United Right declared that “we are one step from the death of our citizens,” describing the attacks as a continuation of Soviet‑era terror tactics.

EU Commission Commits to Support

Vice‑President Roxana Minzatu pledged that the EU will enhance its ability to detect, deter and respond to hybrid threats in real time. She outlined plans for systems such as “anti‑drone walls” aimed for operational readiness by the end of next year.

Debate Highlights Extremist Views

Members of the far‑right criticized the EU’s stance, labeling the country as “Russian‑phobic.” Some described right‑wing deputies as “cute idiots” and accused them of being fertile ground for extreme‑right infiltration.

European Response to Hybrid Threats

Debate participants called for tougher sanctions and an embargo on all energy resources from Russia and Belarus, and for inclusion of the two states on a terror‑financing list.
