Polish government has submitted a bill for the European Digital Identity Wallet to the Government Legislation Center, enabling secure cross-border access to services and controlled data sharing.
Digital Identity Wallet Features
The wallet will enable secure, trusted, and uninterrupted cross-border access to public and private services, along with full control over personal data. This addresses concerns about limiting children’s access to social media platforms.
Age Verification System
Deputy Minister of Digitization Dariusz Standerski explained that implementing the European Digital Identity Wallet will allow platforms to receive specific age verification. Users will only reveal whether they are above or below certain age thresholds, such as 13, 14, or 15 years, without sharing other personal information, ensuring user privacy rights are maintained.
Additional Requirements
The bill also includes other measures that member states must implement, resulting from the amended regulation. These measures complement the digital wallet functionality.
Implementation Details
The European Digital Identity Wallet will be provided by the Minister of Digitization, similar to the mObywatel app, but will be implemented as a separate application.
