Explosion at Russian Military Gendarmerie Building Kills at Least Three

At least three people were killed when part of a Russian military gendarmerie building collapsed following an explosion.

Russia. An explosion occurred in a building of the Military Gendarmerie, according to information provided by Aleksandr Drozdenko, the governor of the Leningrad Oblast. “I ordered security services to provide support to the military in clearing rubble and rescuing victims after the collapse of the military gendarmerie building in Sertolovo,” he wrote on Telegram.

According to local media, around 14:20 local time, a part of the command building—specifically the second and third floors—collapsed. The incident occurred at a military unit where, according to the Astra channel on Telegram, soldiers preparing for deployment to the Ukrainian front were undergoing training.

Casualties and Investigation

Russian-language information channels on Telegram also report that at least three people died in the incident, and one was injured. However, authorities have not yet confirmed these reports. The Main Military Prosecutor’s Office, in turn, informed that a local investigative unit is conducting actions at the scene to determine the cause of the incident.

Eyewitness Accounts

According to Russian media, an explosion occurred in the building. Witnesses told the Fontanka service that they heard a loud bang. “We heard the sound of an explosion and that was it. An ambulance and police arrived. We didn’t hear any screams. There was only a loud bang and you could smell gunpowder,” one of the interviewees recounted.
