Explosion in Garbage Truck at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport

An explosion occurred in a garbage truck at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport on Tuesday morning.

Incident at Chopin Airport

On Tuesday (February 3) morning at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport, there was an explosion of an unknown origin in a garbage truck on the ramp in the area bordering the 1st Transport Air Base. The head of the airport’s communication department confirmed to the portal that the incident occurred during waste disposal.

“State authorities are handling the case,” he added. He also emphasized that there was no need to evacuate the airport.

Fire Extinguished

As reported by Miejski Reporter, employees operating the garbage truck were the first to react to the ignition, and after the fire brigades arrived, they conducted firefighting operations using rapid attack methods. The fire was extinguished in a short time and did not spread beyond the vehicle.

Bus Service Disruptions

Temporary disruptions have been introduced in the area of the incident. Traffic at Rondo Szala was blocked during service work. Disruptions also affect bus services of lines 148, 175, 188 and 331.
