Firefighters responded to an explosion in a garbage truck at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport during waste loading Tuesday morning.
Incident Details
At 7:05 AM, services received a report of a garbage truck fire on Szala Roundabout near Chopin Airport in Warsaw. According to preliminary findings, the incident occurred during waste loading and compaction, with reports of an explosion and brief ignition.
The first to react at the scene were employees operating the vehicle, who used powder extinguishers to attempt putting out the fire before firefighters arrived.
Emergency Response
Fire brigade units conducted rapid attack operations upon arrival, extinguishing the fire quickly. Authorities confirmed the fire did not spread beyond the vehicle and no threat was identified.
Two units of the State Fire Service from JRG 9 and fire units from the airport participated in the operations. The Border Guard and police secured the area.
Traffic Impact
Temporary disruptions were implemented in the incident area, with traffic on Szala Roundabout blocked during the emergency response.
This marks the second such incident at this location, with the previous one occurring on April 6.
