Authorities have completed the investigation of an F-16 crash site in Radom, with prosecutors stating that the area of interest is significantly larger than initially believed.
Crash Investigation Completed
Polish Police and the Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw announced the completion of the F-16 crash site investigation in Radom. Initial inspections of the runways, adjacent lands, and parts of the crashed aircraft, led by Captain Piotr Antoni Skiba, revealed that the area of interest is considerably larger than first thought. This cooperation was between members of the Aviation Accident Commission, military prosecutors from Warsaw and Lublin, and military police from several cities including Warsaw, Lublin, Przasnysz, Krakow, Łask, and Bydgoszcz.
Injury and Fatality Details
Detailed investigations led to the confirmation that the F-16’s pilot, Maciej “Slab” Krakowian, whose full name is Maciej Mądro, died during the crash. The accident occurred during airshow rehearsals on Thursday, August 28th, shortly after 7 PM.
Future Plans for Runway Operations
Furthermore, authorities indicated that the future use of the runway would be decided by local airfield authorities in Radom following the completion of all official procedures and collection of required expert opinions on the crash’s implications.
