False Alarm in Gdańsk: Authorities Vow Accountability for Hoax Calls

Following a forced entry into the home of Karol Nawrocki’s family due to a fraudulent emergency report, Deputy Interior Minister Czesław Mroczek confirmed that perpetrators will face legal consequences.

Government Response to False Reports

On Sunday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk held a briefing with ministers and security officials to address the incident. The meeting was triggered by a Saturday evening event in which emergency services used force to enter a Gdańsk apartment after receiving a hoax report regarding a fire and children in danger.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Czesław Mroczek emphasized that those responsible for such false alarms will not remain unpunished. Officials briefed the Prime Minister on the specific protocols activated during the incident.

Emergency Services Mobilization

The false report drew a significant response, involving the State Medical Rescue System, the Fire Department, and the Police. All three services dispatched units to the location based on claims of a fire and immediate threats to children’s lives.

Mroczek explained that 15 minutes after the initial alert, a second call reported a cardiac arrest at the same address. Consequently, the incident commander authorized a forced entry, only to find the property entirely vacant.

Scale of Hoax Calls

The Ministry reported that authorities have received approximately 1,200 such calls this year. Statistics indicate that roughly 80 percent of these emergency reports involve genuine threats to human life or health.
