Two people die in a multi-vehicle collision on S8 near Ostrów Mazowiecka early Monday morning.
Deadly Collision on S8
A fatal accident occurred on Monday, February 16th at around 4:40 AM on the S8 road near Ostrów Mazowiecka. According to preliminary findings, a Renault bus with nine people on board drove into the back of a heavy-duty Volvo truck with a trailer. A moment later, a Mercedes Sprinter hit the back of the bus. The driver of the Renault and a front passenger died at the scene. The Mercedes Sprinter driver was taken to the hospital.
Route Towards Białystok Blocked
Police have confirmed that both the Volvo and Mercedes drivers were sober. As a result of the accident, the road heading towards Białystok is completely blocked. Officers have set up detours through the Poręba interchange, and then towards the town of Brok.
Emergency Response Underway
Emergency services are working at the accident scene. According to Rafał Kamiński from the Ostrów Mazowiecka Fire Department, police investigative activities are currently underway. The fire department is providing thermal comfort for those at the scene by supplying a heated passenger bus from the Ostrów Mazowiecka County Fire Department.
