A deadly collision involving three vehicles—a Toyota, Audi, and BMW—occurred Sunday afternoon on the DK7 viaduct in Łomianki, Poland, resulting in two fatalities.
Deadly Collision on DK7 Viaduct
On Sunday, April 12th, before 6:00 PM, a fatal accident involving a Toyota, Audi, and BMW took place on the DK7 viaduct over the intersection with Brukowa Street in Łomianki. Two people traveling in the Toyota died at the scene, and a third was transported to the hospital after resuscitation.
Preliminary findings suggest the Toyota driver, traveling from Gdańsk, lost control on the viaduct. The vehicle struck the curb and guardrails with significant force, becoming airborne and landing in the opposite lane heading from Warsaw towards Gdańsk.
Sequence of Impacts
During this maneuver, the Toyota reportedly collided first with an Audi and then a BMW. The vehicle ultimately landed on its roof. One person was ejected from the Toyota, while two others were trapped inside the wreckage.
Possible Prior Collision
A witness reported a possible earlier collision involving the Toyota and a gray or silver Audi that was allegedly speeding and weaving between vehicles. According to the account, the Audi left the scene after the contact. This aspect requires official confirmation from authorities.
Emergency Response
Several fire departments from Warsaw, Błonie, and surrounding Volunteer Fire Departments, along with medical rescue teams, the Ratownik 12 helicopter, and police were dispatched to the scene. One person ejected from the Toyota and one trapped inside died at the scene.
Firefighters extricated the third person from the wrecked car. They, along with paramedics, resuscitated the individual before transporting them to the hospital. The occupants of the Audi and BMW were unharmed.
Secondary Damage and Road Closure
Other vehicles in the area sustained damage from debris and parts that fell from the involved cars. Several vehicles were damaged in the direction of Warsaw, and additional cars were damaged on the Gdańsk-bound side.
The viaduct was completely closed in both directions following the accident. The rescue operation concluded, but traffic police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, will continue working at the scene for several hours to determine the exact sequence of events and all contributing circumstances.
