During a tragic incident at the Savin Kuk ski centre near Žabljak on December 20, a double chairlift collision killed one tourist and injured another.

Details of the Collision

The 34‑year‑old German tourist fell from about 70 metres after two twin chairs on the lift collided. His 30‑year‑old wife was stranded on the lift and was later rescued by emergency crews before being taken to hospital.

Local Authorities Response

Mayor Rados Zugić confirmed the fatality and ordered the lift shut down. Three other skiers were temporarily stranded but were safely evacuated by rescue services.

Police Investigation

Police said they had interviewed several lift operators and resort employees, collected necessary documents, and will commission expert analyses. Prosecutors have opened a full inquiry into responsibility.
