Fatal Stabbing in Warsaw’s Bródno District: 27-Year-Old Detained for Murdering Partner

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 47-year-old partner following a violent incident at an apartment on Wysockiego Street in Warsaw’s Bródno district on May 24.

Police Intervention and Discovery of the Victim

On Sunday, May 24, police responded to reports of an altercation at a residential building on Wysockiego Street. Upon arrival, officers found the apartment door locked and, unable to gain entry, requested assistance from the fire department, who used an aerial platform to access the premises through a window.

Inside, officers discovered a 47-year-old man who was unresponsive. Despite resuscitation attempts by firefighters and paramedics, the man could not be saved. A 27-year-old suspect was found hiding in the bathroom of the apartment.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

The suspect, identified as the victim’s partner, was intoxicated at the time of the arrest, with a breathalyzer test confirming a blood alcohol level of approximately 1.12 per mille. Following an investigation by the North Praga District Prosecutor’s Office, the man was charged with murder under Article 148, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.

On May 26, the suspect was interrogated and subsequently remanded into custody for a period of three months by a court order. If convicted, the 27-year-old faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment.

Investigation Details

Forensic evidence and witness testimony collected at the scene were submitted to the prosecutor’s office for analysis. Autopsy results confirmed that the victim died as a result of a crime. Local neighbors reported that the two men had been in a domestic relationship, a detail currently being factored into the ongoing official investigation.
