Wednesday evening in Warsaw, a woman was fatally struck by an Intercity train at a designated pedestrian crossing in Wawer district.
Incident Details
On Wednesday, February 4th around 6:30 PM, a fatal collision occurred on the railway track along ul. Patriotów at the intersection with ul. Zbójnogórskiego in Wawer. The woman was struck while crossing at a designated pedestrian crossing.
The IC train no. 3837/6 “NOTEĆ” traveling from Rzeszów Główny to Piła Główna hit the woman, whose identity has not yet been established.
Emergency Response
Two fire brigades, police, and a medical rescue team were dispatched to the scene. Despite immediate medical intervention, the woman could not be saved.
The track towards Warsaw was blocked after the accident, with train traffic rerouted to the second track in shuttle mode. Police are investigating under the supervision of a prosecutor. The train driver and manager have been confirmed to be sober.
Transport Disruptions
The incident affects the Warszawa Falenica – Warszawa Wawer section, causing approximately 30-minute delays for trains. From 6:40 PM onward, reciprocal ticket validation between Mazowieckie Koleje and ZTM applies in zones 1 and 2.

PKP Intercity has canceled IC train no. 3837/6 “NOTEĆ” on the Warszawa Falenica – Bydgoszcz Główna route. Passengers may use these alternative services:

– IC train 3534/5 “KAZIMIERZ” from Zakopane to Bydgoszcz Główna (Kutno – Bydgoszcz Główna section)
– IC train 2526/7 “KOCHANOWSKI” from Lublin Główny to Bydgoszcz Główna (Warszawa Wschodnia – Bydgoszcz Główna section)
