Fatal Train Collision: Authorities Investigating How Man Got on Tracks

A 65-year-old man was fatally struck by a train Tuesday in Sobolew, Poland, as police investigate how he accessed the unauthorized track area.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Sobolew in Garwolin County. On the railway track near Leśna Street, a 65-year-old man was fatally struck by a train. According to preliminary findings, the pedestrian entered the tracks in an unauthorized area.

Police Investigation Underway

Police have been on the scene from the beginning, investigating the exact course of events and determining how the 65-year-old ended up in the railway area. Procedural activities are still ongoing in the incident area, with the fire brigade also assisting at the scene.

“Police are investigating the circumstances of the tragic incident that occurred today in Sobolew,” stated Asst. Comm. Małgorzata Pychner, Press Officer of the Garwolin County Police. “Authorities are determining how the man got on the tracks.”

Train Disruptions and Ticket Changes

Due to the incident near Sobolew station, there are disruptions in the operation of KM trains on lines R1 and R7. Traffic is being conducted bidirectionally on a single track, with delays, cancellations, and shortened train routes possible.

Information about current disruptions and delays can be found on the passenger portal of PKP PLK S.A., the railway infrastructure manager. From 16:59, mutual acceptance of KM-ZTM tickets has been introduced in affected transportation lines.
