Fatal Train Incident in Wawer Kills 24-Year-Old

A 24-year-old man died after being struck by a PKP Intercity train at Warszawa Miedzeszyn station in Wawer on Monday.

Fatal Incident

On Monday, March 2, at 7:08 PM, services received a report of a fatal incident at Warszawa Miedzeszyn station in Wawer, where a pedestrian was hit by a PKP Intercity train.

Preliminary findings indicate that the 24-year-old man entered the path of the approaching Intercity train on the route from Warszawa Zachodnia to Jagodzin (Ukraine). Upon arrival, services confirmed the man’s death.

Fire services, emergency medical services, and police are at the scene. The proceedings are under the supervision of a prosecutor.

Train Disruptions

SKM reports that due to the accident involving a person at Warszawa Miedzeszyn station, there are traffic disruptions for all carriers on the Warszawa Wawer – Warszawa Falenica section.

As a result, SKM trains of line S1 in both directions may be delayed by over 30 minutes. Additionally, selected trains may run in a shortened route or be cancelled.

Infrastructure Updates

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe reports that there have been changes to platforms and arrival/departure tracks for trains. Train delays of approximately 30 minutes may occur on the Warszawa Wawer – Warszawa Falenica route.

Warszawa Transport Authority (WTP) states that train traffic on the affected section is now running on track number 2. Mutual acceptance of tickets between KM and ZTM has been introduced.
