At 13:16 on Friday, December 26, a fatal accident occurred near Kordecki 11 in Gocław. The 73‑year‑old man was on his apartment balcony on the first floor, slipped on icy, slick pavement, lost his balance and fell through a low balcony railing onto the sidewalk, where he died.
Rescue Efforts
Medical rescuers were first on the scene, but the man’s life could not be saved. Later that evening, police worked under the supervision of a prosecutor to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Investigators are conducting detailed inquiries to establish the exact conditions that led to the fall, including the state of the balcony surface and railing height.
Neighbour’s Account
A neighbour told reporters that earlier that day, the deceased had been warned not to use the balcony because it was extremely slick. She also noted that the balcony railing was only about 85 centimetres high, “reaching to the hips,” and that this did not provide adequate protection.
