On 4 December, Poland’s District Prosecutor’s Office in Włocławek charged Jan O. with fraud and organized crime involvement, accusing him of costing the state more than PLN 760,000.

Charges Filed Against Jan O.

On 4 December, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Włocławek brought three charges against Jan O. for participating in an organized crime group, committing VAT fraud, and issuing unreliable invoices. Investigators say the offenses occurred in 2018‑2019.

Alleged State Loss of Over PLN 760,000

Prosecutors claim Jan O.’s activities cost the state more than PLN 760,000, and that he obtained an improper VAT refund of at least PLN 380,000. The single‑person enterprise allegedly issued 135 unreliable invoices to six companies, for services that were either not performed or overvalued.

Potential Sentence of Up to 20 Years

Because the invoices issued by Jan O. total more than PLN 5 million, a figure described as “five times the value of a large amount,” he faces up to twenty years in prison.
