Fire at a social assistance home in Szczawnie kills one person and injures others as multiple fire crews respond.

Fire Breaks Out

A fire erupted at a social assistance home in Szczawnie (Krośnieński County, Lubusz Voivodeship) on Saturday, February 21st, after 10:50 AM. Initially, nine fire crews were dispatched to the scene.

Ultimately, 15 fire crews arrived. The fire, originating in one room, remains uncontained and continues to spread.

Injuries and Evacuation

Nearly 100 people were evacuated before firefighters arrived. Ten individuals were affected, with five transported to hospitals.

Three people suffered minor burns, and two were poisoned by smoke. The fire is not yet under control.

Casualties Confirmed

Despite ongoing resuscitation efforts lasting several minutes, one person could not be saved and died.

Firefighters and officials confirmed the fatality and ongoing response efforts.
