Fire Ban Imposed in Kampinos National Park Amid Extreme Fire Risk

Due to extreme fire risks and prolonged drought, Kampinos National Park has imposed a temporary ban on all fire sources until May 14, while other regions face similar threats.

Fire Ban in Kampinos National Park

Due to very high fire risk (Level III, litter moisture below 10%) and a lack of forecasted rain, the director of Kampinos National Park has introduced a temporary ban on using fire.

The ban remains in effect until May 14 and may be extended if no rain occurs. Within the park, lighting fires, using grills, gas stoves, torches, or any other ignition sources is strictly prohibited.

The park remains open to tourists, and events may still be organized in clearings, provided no fires or grills are used. Reservation fees remain unchanged, though bookings can be canceled before the event for a full refund.

Increasing Risks in Other National Parks

Bieszczady National Park is also warning of fire danger in high mountain areas. Due to prolonged drought, vegetation on the mountain slopes is extremely dry, making even a small spark dangerous; patrols have been reinforced.

Following a fire in Puszcza Solska, Roztocze National Park has banned access to forested areas. The fire in Biłgoraj county broke out Tuesday afternoon, covering approximately 300 hectares.

Fatal Aircraft Crash During Firefighting

During the firefighting operation on Tuesday evening, a Dromader firefighting aircraft crashed. The pilot of the aircraft lost his life in the accident.

National Fire Hazard Forecast

On Wednesday, fire risk remains high or very high across most of the country, with extreme levels in the Lublin region. Only the north and west of Poland are currently unaffected.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) reports that expected rain in the driest regions tomorrow may briefly improve humidity conditions.
